Dr. Laura Benchea has, beyond the common areas in cardiology, a special interest in the cardiovascular changes that occur in patients with diabetes mellitus without coronary disease, without valvulopathies, or without congenital heart diseases.
With the help of special echocardiographic techniques (tissue Doppler, speckle-tracking), structural and functional changes of the left atrium and right ventricle that appear in patients with diabetes mellitus can be identified early, which facilitates establishing an early diagnosis, timely monitoring, and initiation of correct treatment.

Education

Last but not least, Dr. Benchea is an assistant professor and PhD candidate at the “Grigore T. Popa” University of Medicine and Pharmacy in Iași.
