Dr. Lucian Pop has comprehensive experience in the management and monitoring of high-risk pregnancies, gained during his work in the United Kingdom (2012–2017) at Medway Maritime Hospital and King’s College Hospital—both level 3 maternity units, each with over 5,000 births annually.
In 2015, Dr. Lucian Pop became a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) after passing the exams held in September 2013 and May 2015. The MRCOG membership examination is considered one of the most rigorous and prestigious in the field of obstetrics and gynecology. It is structured in two parts: MRCOG Part 1, with a pass rate of approximately 33%, and MRCOG Part 2, with a success rate of only 15%.
Between June 2015 and July 2017, Dr. Lucian Pop completed a subspecialty training in fetal medicine at King’s College Hospital under the guidance of Professors Kypros Nicolaides and Ranjit Akolekar. Upon completion of this program, he was awarded the Diploma in Fetal Medicine.
This diploma is awarded to physicians who achieve a high standard of expertise in the diagnosis and management of the full spectrum of fetal anomalies and pregnancy complications. Earning the diploma requires demonstrated competence in managing high-risk pregnancies, antenatal diagnosis of fetal anatomical and functional malformations, advanced use of Doppler ultrasound, and performance of invasive procedures such as amniocentesis and chorionic villus sampling.
